In a last minute chnge, the upcoming Hindi film Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has decided to skip theatrical release. Earlier scheduled to hit the screens on May 9, the film will now be arriving directly on Amazon Prime Video on May 16. The makers have cited all-India escalated security issues as the reason behind this.
Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios, the movie is a blend of romance, comedy, and a sci-fi twist in the form of a small-town romance. The decision may have surprised fans, but the makers ensured the audiences can still view the movie at home.
About the Movie
Bhool Chuk Maaf is a sci-fi romantic comedy film set in Varanasi. The film is about Ranjan, a common man and die-hard romantic, who procures a government job solely so that he can marry his long-time girlfriend, Titli Mishra. But fate has other plans when Ranjan finds himself stuck in a strange time loop, where he keeps reliving the same day—his Haldi ceremony—again and again, while Titli remains unaware of all this.
The film stars Rajkummar Rao as Ranjan and Wamiqa Gabbi as Titli, while seasoned actors Seema Pahwa as Ranjan's mother and Sanjay Mishra as Bhagwan Das. Cameos by Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, and Ishtiyak Khan will give depth and comic relief to the story. The film also has Dhanashree Verma in a high-energy special dance number.

Maddock Films production house made the announcement on May 8 that Bhool Chuk Maaf would see a world premiere only on Prime Video from May 16 onwards. They explained that due to what has occurred recently and heightened security measures across the nation, they chose to prioritize public sentiment and safety above all else by making a straight skip to digital media.
While the team initially hoped for a theatrical release on the big screen, the choice to go for an OTT launch was made considering the prevailing national mood. By doing so, the movie is made available to audiences worldwide, providing an entertaining and heartwarming experience straight from home.
