After its theatrical release during Eid 2025, Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, is heading to OTT. The movie created some buzz, but it didn’t really impress critics or audiences. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, it brought Salman back in action mode.
About the Movie
Sikandar is about Sanjay Rajkot, a powerful figure from Gujarat, known to the people as “Sikandar.” He lives a seemingly good life with his wife, Saisri. Things turn upside down after an explosive tragedy that kills her, pushing Sanjay into an emotional journey. Her organs are donated to three people in Mumbai, and Sanjay decides to find and help them — in a way, trying to hold on to her memory.
From stopping land mafias in Dharavi to helping a woman restart her small business, Sanjay plays a larger-than-life hero trying to fix broken lives. But of course, trouble follows. A corrupt politician, seeking revenge, tries to destroy everything Sanjay builds. The rest of the film is about this cat-and-mouse game — filled with drama, action, and emotion.
Review
To be honest, Sikandar doesn’t live up to the hype. Despite its massive budget of ₹200 crore, it struggled to connect. Critics were mostly disappointed. The story felt stretched, the emotional beats didn’t quite land, and the direction was a bit all over the place. Rotten Tomatoes shows a 7% critic rating, which speaks volumes.
Yes, Salman Khan tries his best, and fans may find a few moments to enjoy. But if you’re looking for a solid action drama, this might leave you underwhelmed. Even reviews from Bollywood Hungama, India Today, and Hindustan Times hovered around 2/5 stars. It’s one of those films that tries to say a lot but doesn’t hit the mark.
OTT Release Details
Sikandar will be available to stream on Netflix India starting May 25, 2025. It’ll be available in Hindi, and subtitles should be there for other languages too.
Want my honest take? If you're in for some typical Bhaijaan moments and don’t mind a bumpy script, give it a try. Otherwise, there are better picks to stream.
