About the movie

Prince and Family is centered on Prince, a successful bridal boutique owner in his mid-thirties who remains the only unmarried member of his joint family. When familial pressures and societal expectations increases, Prince finally gets married, only to find that married life turns his personal, social, and professional life upside down in unforeseen manners. Against a backdrop of vibrant wedding rituals and regal pageantry, the film explores the complexities of modern relationships, the burden of being the keystone of a large family, and the hidden perils of today’s influencer-driven culture.

Movie Review

From a performance standpoint, Dileep carries the film with effortless charm, skillfully blending self-deprecating humor with sincere vulnerability. His on-screen rapport with Dhyan Sreenivasan and Josekutty Jacob adds warmth and authenticity to the sibling dynamics, while veterans like Bindu Panicker and Siddique shine in moments of dry wit. The narrative’s first half excels in light-hearted comedy—running gags around Prince’s age and marriage prospects feel fresh rather than forced. Visually, the film scores with colorful wedding sequences and tightly framed domestic scenes that highlight both the grandeur and intimacy of family life.

Yet, the movie’s tonal shift in the second half can be jarring. What begins as a breezy family entertainer abruptly pivots into a pointed commentary on the reckless side of social media and influencer culture. While the message is timely—underscore the emotional damage wrought by online sensationalism—the transition lacks narrative groundwork, making the latter act feel somewhat tacked-on. Additionally, some Gen Z characters risk coming off as mere stereotypes rather than fully fleshed individuals. Despite these hiccups, “Prince and Family” remains a heartfelt, often hilarious portrait of kinship in the digital age, offering enough laughs and genuine moments to make it a worthwhile watch for audiences seeking both humor and heart.
